Scenario
You and two other staff members have been assigned to review new software. You have the technical skills to critically evaluate the software, but you are struggling to learn and use the software. You’re completing the evaluation “off the side of your desk” and you’re already very busy. Nevertheless, the project sounds fairly straightforward until you and your colleagues start evaluating the software. Plus, one of your colleagues demonstrates a “superior” attitude towards you because you’re struggling with the software. You have overheard him say you are “useless.” This colleague is very aggressive and rigid in his approach, and his verbals and non-verbals demonstrate a lack of respect towards you. Your manager has given the team one week to review the software and to begin preparing your report. The disagreeable, aggressive colleague is the one who has some of the skills and experience with the software that you need to proceed with your review.
